Jigsaw (Sanctuary One)
Jigsaw the pig was named after the beloved titular character in Granny Gomez and Jigsaw, but his early life was no fairytale. When he was found as a tiny piglet on the side of the road close to a hog farm, his rescuers speculated that he’d either escaped on his own or he’d been thrown out. Baby Jigsaw was malnourished and suffering from pneumonia when he arrived at his temporary home with his foster family. According to Sanctuary One, it was there that “he learned to love humans and to get along with all kinds of animals. He even learned to sit on command for some Cheerios.” With a lot of love, little Jigsaw grew larger and made it clear that he needed a permanent home.
After a long journey across state lines with two dedicated Idaho Humane Society volunteers, Jigsaw arrived at Sanctuary One in Jacksonville, Oregon, where he took to sanctuary life instantly. Now, he loves belly rubs, bumping the sprinklers with his butt, and his new friends. Happily, Jigsaw recently had the chance to reconnect with an old friend. “Jigsaw was reunited with on the of the dedicated humane society volunteers who drove him down here four years ago,” Sanctuary One reports. “She was the one who found him and helped nurse him back to health. She explained how much work they put into raising Jigsaw and continued to build bigger and bigger homes for him as he grew.” It was clear from his excited snorts that Jigsaw was happy to see his old friend!
